UPDATE: In a Nov. 16 news release, Sears announced Black Friday pricing has begun online at Sears.com. Sears and Kmart also have lowered the minimum purchase threshold for free shipping on qualifying online orders to $25 and launched a new points program offer for Shop Your Way members.

Following in recent tradition, Sears and Kmart stores will open their doors on Thanksgiving, parent company Sears Holdings announced Tuesday in a news release.

Both retailers will start Black Friday sales on Turkey Day with most Kmart stores being open 6 a.m. through 10 p.m. Nov. 23 and then reopening 6 a.m. Black Friday.

Most Sears stores will be open 6 p.m. Thanksgiving to midnight and then reopen 5 a.m. Black Friday.

In a news release, the company announced members of the Shop Your Way rewards program will get early access to all Thanksgiving and Black Friday doorbusters at Sears and day after Thanksgiving deals at Kmart four days early, during an in-store Members Night from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 19 and online all-day Nov. 19 and 20.

"Nothing says 'ho, ho, ho-migawd!' like our epic Black Friday doorbusters plus FREECASH in points," said Kelly Cook, chief marketing officer in the release. "From deep discounts on your favorite gifts to amazing opportunities to skip the Black Friday chaos and shop early, this holiday season is all about our members — and we're going BIG! Our month of promotions is sure to knock everyone's stockings off and help stretch holiday dollars at the same time."

To get the cashback in points on all purchases, text FREECASH to 52678.

The Kmart ad posted Tuesday at Kmart.com is a short 5-page ad and appears to be a preview of the larger circular. On the front cover when advertising one promotion, the ad notes more details are on page 47.

Best deals from the Kmart ad include:

• Select board games for $4.99.
• Select Barbie dolls for $1.99.
• Queen or King 1,000 thread count sheet set for $19.99.
• Small kitchen appliances for $4.99 and $9.99.
• Select DVDs for $7.99.
• Skullcandy Uproar Bluetooth on-ear headphones for $24.99 plus earn $5 cash back.

The Sears circular posted Tuesday at Sears.com is 43 pages and compared to last year's circular is disappointing. Last year's had a few similar items, but they were free after reward points, including a 7-foot Christmas tree, select Reebok adult shoes, Kenmore small appliances and more. That doesn't appear to be the case this year,

• R1893 and Roebuck & Co. jeans for $9.99, regular price $39.
• Kenmore Elite Refrigerator for $999.99, more than 50 percent off regular price. Other appliances also are on sale.
• 7-foot Alpine Balsam fir Christmas tree for $39.99.
• 80 percent off gold jewelry.
• Up to 50 percent off tools.
• NordicTrack Elite 10.9 elliptical for $599, a $1,000 discount from the regular price.

Savings tips: Use the store's loyalty program, Shop Your Way rewards, on all your purchases.
